After the case of Tamara Romero, a student from the College of Sciences and Humanities (CCH) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Naucalpan campus, became known, two other students were reported missing, in addition to the death of a student. These events have generated great concern among parents and the student community regarding the safety of students, most of whom are minors.
One of them was Juan Carlos Flores García, a 17-year-old minor who disappeared after leaving the CCH Vallejo facilities located in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City (CDMX) on Wednesday, April 30, after attending his first class of the day. The official social media account of CCH shared the search notice issued through the Amber Alert program by the capital's Attorney General's Office (FGJ), requesting support from the school community and the general population to locate the teenager.
Student Karla Paola Alegría Rodríguez also disappeared on April 30, this time on the streets of the Iztapalapa borough. According to the Amber Alert search notice issued by the FGJ, the student suddenly fainted and lost consciousness. So far, the causes of her death are unknown. The student was located on May 2.
In response to these cases of disappearance, the student community demands greater safety for students, both in the surroundings of CCH campuses and during their commutes to and from their homes. They also ask for greater attention within the facilities and a review of school protocols, since, in addition to these disappearances, the death of another student is added: César Emiliano Hernández Dávalos. César Emiliano lost his life on April 30 within the CCH Naucalpan facilities during a concert organized as part of the cultural activities of the campus.
